I havent located the part with the serial number of the engine on it yet.The case numbers end with 3R the other 7R do these numbers indicate what type of engines these would be The other numbers on the cases are 91102, and 91196.The 91102 number looks like it could be a 2.2 S engine,yes or noThe 91196 number I havent been able to find in any of the books I have.Any insight would be helpful.Thanks John Garrity.Have tried contacting Dave Brown, but i think his company is closed any suggestions.

The engine is type 91152 and was equipped with a manual transmission. The VIN on this 72 911E should be of the form: 91122Xxxxx 911 Vehicle model, 911 group. Model year 1972. 2 Engine type 911E E. The transmission would usually be type 91502 5-speed although it could be a 4-speed, Sportomatic or other. Transmission numbers for the type 91502 are of the form: 7320001 through 7329999 and 7720001 through 7720658. X2xxxx decodes as: 7 Transmission designation for 6-cylinder engine. ![]() Model year 1972. xxxx Sequential Number. This general scheme of decoding continues (similarly) through 1980 (when Porsche discovered identical numbers for some 1970 models ). The system for your 1985 Carrera started in 1981 with the 17-digit world system common to all cars. Best, Grady tseybold, 6196894 is a 1969 911T type 90103 for RoW version or type 90116 for the USA version (90113 or 90119 respectively for the Sportomatic version). Could anyone please help in decoding what this block was for 901 105 111 OR Thank you I have paid for it and waiting for the scrap dealer to clear it out but still trying to work out what it is. ![]()
